I'm learning so much about how to search and the translation issue. Hocevar is such a common surname. My grandfather changed our last name to Kotchevar about a year after he arrived because he was tired of getting mail for the other Joseph Hocevars in town. That's how common it was were he settled. That's the biggest problem I face in my search. I think I've got a match and upon closer inspection, my hopes are dashed. My grandfather was born in a town close to Skofljica in Blato he told my uncle. The only Blato close is Gorenje Blato. But town names change over time I'm finding. He was born in house #5. In the early 1980's the house still stood according to my uncle when he went over to visit Slovenia. You would think with a house number and everything I would be able to get somewhere.
