And a veeeeeeery loooooooong shot - could be the surname Macek, as the German word for cat/macek is Katze, and maybe someone translated his name? Macek is quite a frequent surname in Slovenia, while Kac is not that frequent. Godork doesn't ring any bells. In today's Slovenia Cadrg (near Tolmin) looks similar as far as spelling - are you sure that is what you read on Ellis? There are a few Zagers still in Slovenia (according to the phonebook), none of them in a Godork-sounding place. Zagar is a much more frequent name around here. According to Shtetl seeker (http://www.jewishgen.org/) similar sounding places in Austria are Gatteregg, Hütteregg and Katereck.
