Hi Listers I have Biagio PAVLICEVICH who left Istra early 1800's, sailed to Scotland and married Johannah WOOD on 2 Nov 1814 in Edinburgh. It is said that his place of birth, which was near the Italian border, was sometimes under Italian rule and sometimes under Balkan rule. Two versions of why he left his birth country: 1. Fled when his parents insisted on his becoming a Priest 2. Fled when Napoleon invaded and destroyed the Monasteries. It is thought that 'Biagio' is an Italian name, so perhaps Italian blood on his mother's side? Anyone researching this family name?
