Help. I found a first cousin whose mother, my mother's sister, told her that she was Windisch and not Slovene. My mother and sister came from the county of Vas, Hungary, which became part of Prekmurje, Slovenia after world War I. I have heard that the Slovenes living in this part of Vas county Hungary were called Windisch. I would like to know where the area of Windisch was located prior to World War I and if it covered areas of Austria as well as Hungary. Also does the name have any significance today.
