Faccanoni". are certainly companies - the first one ("Bauunternehmung") was probably some kind of building-contractor (above ground construction/ foundation engineering) - the names sound very italian - so it could easily be from the Trieste area or the region north from it but the whole adriatic coast was also settled with italians or even from ljubljana/the slovene/krain area - but for sure it was a company located somewhere in the austrian empire (probably somewhere in the regions mentioned before) since the kind of business is written in german georg just if you like, send me some copies of the military paf or the workbook - maybe i can find out something for you - in case just let me know (if e-mail or if you prefer snail-mail) [email protected] [email protected] wrote: > ATTACHMENT part 1 message/rfc822 SLOVENIA-D Digest Volume 01 : Issue 75 Today's Topics: #1 Army records & Workbook [Phyllis Bitner Administrivia: To unsubscribe from SLOVENIA-D, send a message to [email protected] that contains in the body of the message the command unsubscribe and no other text. I have a "militar Pafs" and a "Workbook" of sorts. My grandfather was born in Veli Rakitovec. I have written to the Austrian Army office and they say no military record exists for him. The military bok is dated 1901. It says the station is "Ljubljana". There is lots of information in the book and I'd like to be able to find out more about this. Is there a website that would tell about this period of time and what military he may have been in. The workbook is dated 1898. Did adults have to have a workbook or is this something just from a certain company. It says "county where lived" "Cesnjice". The book has lots of stamps. Some have "Stein and Kamnik". Some of the pages give permission to travel to a certian place. There is a stamp that says "Bauunternehmung, Galimberti-Faccanoni-Sard". Could that be a company name? Another name is "H. Rella & Co., F. Harinelli & L. Faccanoni". Since he had permission to travel on some pages could he have worked in a company in Germany or Italy? Where would I start to find out about this? I also have another unrelated question. Does anyone know where I could obtain information about my grandmother who attended school at St. Gotard. I have her school records from the late 1800s from that school. Does it still exist and is there an address I could write? Thanks for any help.
