My people also came to Carbon co Utah--My ggrandmother, Josefa BLATIIK (her mother is a DOBRIHA) came in 1905, After immigrating she first spent a year in Falls,Massachusetts then she came on to Carbon co UT to be married to my ggrandfather, Matija KOCJAN (Matt Kogan in this country) [His mother a KOCEVAR or HOCEVAR]. He was working in the mines. They were married out of the home of her cousin, Maria ZELEZNIK's home. The later moved to McGill,White Pine county,Nevada. They came originally from Slovenia. (Gurkfeld,Krainska,Austria in German) My grandmother from sv Primoz,Sevnici (Studenec)--close to Krsko,Slovenia and my grandfather from Stopno,near Skocjan (close to Novo Mesto,Slovenia) his father was born in Jelendolu his older siblings born in Telcah which was just the other side of the mountain from the tiny town where my grandmother was born in Primoz. In searching this out Maria ZELEZNIK was 12 the year my grandmother was born--that makes me wonder if her maiden name is BLATNIK or DOBRIHA--so far I haven't found these names on a census of Carbon co,UT. Although in a later census I found Maria with her husband and children. Do you live anywhere near Carbon co UT? I have pulled all the names that were not English out of one of the censuses--I believe 1910 and would be willing to search what I have for your or anyone else who might have been in Carbon co in the late 1800s and early 1900s. There sure were alot of Southern and Eastern Europeans employed in the mines of UTAH during these years.
