Fiume (called Rijeka by Croatians) was under the rule of Austria in 1903. Interesting his WW I Draft Registration he gave his birthyear as 1874 and he stated he was from Montedero... which is Plavje aka Plavje, Plavia Montedoro What is missing from the ship manifest? Typically, but not always the manifest gives his next of kin in the old country. I notice on his Naturalization paperwork he states his Race to be Croatian I can not seem to find his ship manifest. Can you direct me to the manifest? Also he could not have been born in Plavje, Yugoslavia... as Yugoslavia did not exist at the time of his birth. The reason his 1939 paperwork list Yugoslavia as his birthplace is do to geo-politics... at the time of his birth Plavje as under the rule of Austria-Hungary Robert Jerin Croatian Heritage Museum Cleveland Ohio Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
