But I don't believe we are related. My mom's side was Matichaks & Marusaks. My dad's side was Stanislaus & Mont. We were from the East Side. Where did you grow up??? My great-grandma was Susanne Filek but I'm not sure if she immigrated by herself or if other family members came along. I am kind of at a deadend. Plan on going to the library in beautiful downtown Joliet to finish up some of my research. I just started this about a week ago so I am really green at this. Kordish, 98, passed away Friday afternoon, February 18, 2011 at the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky. Born December 13, 1912 in Loske Poltok, Slovenia, he was the son of the late Mary (Benchina) and Louis Kordish. He served during WWII under General George Patton in Algeria-French Morocco, Sicily, Rome-Arno, Southern France, Rhineland and Central Europe. While serving his country he earned the Purple Heart, Gold Star, Good Conduct Medal, European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with 6 Bronze Stars and 1 Silver Star. Paul loved the outdoors and especially enjoying fishing-taking 65 trips to Pigeon Lake in Bob Cayjen, Ontario, Canada, to fish the pristine waters. A fun loving person, he was a life member of V.F.W. Post #9943 and the Sons of Herman. Paul was a very creative man holding several patents including the bowling pin setter machine and a bottle cap fishing lure. He is survived by a daughter, LaDonna (Rick) Gleisinger of Mansfield, Ohio; stepchildren, Leonard (Danita) Dixon of Enver Grove Heights, MN, Lester (Donna) Dixon of Mansfield, Loretta (Ben) Haubert of Lucas, Lorenzo (Linda) Dixon of Shoreview, MN; the mother of his daughter and step-children and special friend, Rosalee Paulson; five grandchildren, Jeremy (April) Gleisinger of Crystal Lake, IL, Christen Gleisinger of Lexington, Brian (Jolena) Porter of Galion, Gregory Porter of Mansfield and Courtney (Shawn) Bittinger of Mansfield; four great-grandchildren, Savea Gleisinger, Lillian Black, Titus Gleisinger and Seth Porter; eight step-grandchildren, Amanda Black, Matthew Dixon, Bobby Dixon, Lester Dixon, Jr., Andrew Dixon, Alaina Cross Dixon, Jason Dixon and Melissa Dixon; and nieces and nephew, Betty Jean (Jack), Bob (Connie) and Mary Ann. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Louis Kordish and sister, Mary Kordish.
