Author: Isoborowski Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.eeurope.slovenia.general/6621.1.1.1.1.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Thanks. I really am frustrated with researching this side of my family. I'm not sure who came from Hungary and who came from Czechoslovakia. This part of the world changed hands so often, which complicates things even more. I am grateful for every little piece of information I am getting.Irene Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I just saw this message. There must be a connection. I checked and Hrusevica currently has 160 some residents and there has been no change since the last census. I'm sure this is a tiny village and most if not all living there are somehow related to each other, and possibly to us. My Franceska Fabjan married Alojze Gulic - who was born in 1856. Franceska would be close in age to your Maria Fabjan. Interesting also that we have Slovenian cousins named Rudess. (Rudez/Rudesh?) Your mother and her parents were born in USA. So you need to locate your grandparents [her parent's] church baptismal record as there should be a place of birth. John would have come as Janos, Jan or Johann; and Elizabeth as Erzsebet. You need to find their immigration manifest. You should look into the church they attended and had their children baptised. Speaking Slovak would put your research into Slovakia [former Czechoslovakia]. Taszulyka, Pal Talkus 40 1860 1900 [FASZULYKA] village is Falkus now Falkusovce, Slovakia [ zemplín region] 1773 Falkus, Falkasowcze, 1786 Falkusch, Falkussowce, 1808 Falkus, Falkussowce, 1863-1913 Falkus, 1920- Falkusovce [all the names this village was known by] You can go thru Falkusovce's church records and see if you find your FASULKAs ancestors. Will not cost you anything since the church records are on the internet. http://www.familysearch.org/eng/library/fhlcatalog/supermainframeset.asp?display=titledetails&titleno=697709&disp=Cirkevná matrika &columns=*,0,0 Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: Isoborowski Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.eeurope.slovenia.general/6621.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Thanks for your quick response. I've been able to go back hyndreds of years with by dad's family, but my mom's has been very frustrating. My Verchimak relatives were John and Elizabeth. My Fasulka relatives were also John and Lizzie. Both emmigrated a few years before Ellis Island was an immigration center. From what my mother said, I believe they spoke Slovak. But who knows? That part of the world changed politically so often. Andras Fazulka could very well be related. The birth age makes sense, and my grandfather had a brother named Andro---after his uncle????
