    1. More Catholic Churches?
    2. Hello I, too, am interested in contacting several Catholic Churches in Slovenia. I have just finished writing a letter--not yet mailed--to obtain 3 addresses. Is there anyone on the list that could supply them and save me some postal time? Any of the three would be immensely appreciated! The TRONTELJ/KOZLEVCAR family from Zgorinja Slivinca of Smarja parish The OVEN/POZNIK family from Strahomer The VOVK family from Hrastov Dol Thanks in advance Anna in MN (searching Slovenian surnames) [email protected] http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~kramarsteb

    3. Here is some info on the three churches. Sheila S-K Rosalnice - Three Parishes Famous pilgrimage group of three gothic churches Tri fare (Three Parishes), where the seat of the parish of Metlika until 1461 was, when it was transmitted to Metlika itself. All three churches have preserved the one-piece presbytery with a cross-rip vault and pillars in exterior and are therefore, from the architectural point of view the most important monument of gothic architecture in Bela krajina. The oldest is the north church, from the time about 1400, dedicated to Our Lady of Sorrows; in the baroquized nave the profiled gothic main portal has been preserved. The interior was decorated with pictures by the Carniolan painter J.Egartner in the first half of the 19th century. Baroque altars date from the 2.Half of the 18th century. The middle church, Ecce homo, was built at the end of the 15th century, the stall and the church tower were constructed later. The baroquized interior of the nave was decorated with pictures in 1862 by J.Tavcar from Idrija. On the exterior of the south church, dedicated to Our Lady of Lourdes, remains of a medieval fresco have been preserved among the butresses, in the interior, however, beside a cross vault also a gothic wall tabernacle with pinnacles. The nave was devided into three naves in the 19th century. In front of the stone wall of the churches complex there grows a lime grove, denoting the pilgrimage ambience "d." wrote: > Hi, Mary, > > > I too would like to contact Churches in Slovenia. 3. Chernobly, Slovenia, typed into the browser at Shtetl Seek comes up with the town now called GRMOVLIE, in Slovenia but not far from Zagreb. If you go to Shtetl, search and then click on the town, you'll get a map from Map Quest. Names can change a lot, depending on which language is being used. A hundred years ago, the Austrians called Zagreb by the name Agram. 1. Re: CARBON co UTAH
    2. Cherie Gardner Harmon
    3. My people also came to Carbon co Utah--My ggrandmother, Josefa BLATIIK (her mother is a DOBRIHA) came in 1905, After immigrating she first spent a year in Falls,Massachusetts then she came on to Carbon co UT to be married to my ggrandfather, Matija KOCJAN (Matt Kogan in this country) [His mother a KOCEVAR or HOCEVAR]. He was working in the mines. They were married out of the home of her cousin, Maria ZELEZNIK's home. The later moved to McGill,White Pine county,Nevada. They came originally from Slovenia. (Gurkfeld,Krainska,Austria in German) My grandmother from sv Primoz,Sevnici (Studenec)--close to Krsko,Slovenia and my grandfather from Stopno, near Skocjan (close to Novo Mesto,Slovenia) his father was born in Jelendolu his older siblings born in Telcah which was just the other side of the mountain from the tiny town where my grandmother was born in Primoz. In searching this out Maria ZELEZNIK was 12 the year my grandmother was born--that makes me wonder if her maiden name is BLATNIK or DOBRIHA--so far I haven't found these names on a census of Carbon co,UT. Although in a later census I found Maria with her husband and children. Do you live anywhere near Carbon co UT? I have pulled all the names that were not English out of one of the censuses--I believe 1910 and would be willing to search what I have for your or anyone else who might have been in Carbon co in the late 1800s and early 1900s. There sure were alot of Southern and Eastern Europeans employed in the mines of UTAH during these years.
