    3. Mary: Thank you for the good material you have posted on your site. I did see some familiar names. My grandmother Leopoldina Rostan Tonin and her cousin Ivana Kauchnic were active in a ladies group that they helped to form in Waukegan. I have a copy of that material but my grandmother's name is mispelled. Needs to be corrected in the records somehow. Also Greatgrandfather Janez Rostan came to America in 1890 on the Elba to New York. He then went to Ely. How long he remained there I do not know yet. He moved from there and then about 1910 went back to Mirna, Slovenia. Maybe Ely was too cold for him! Not necessary, but if I'll be you I would make this efort and pull the best from myself. Another good treatise on researching in Slovenia was written by Peter Hawlina of the Slovenian Genealogical Society of Slovenia. You can read it and download it from: http://genealogy.ijp.si/Hawlina/doing.htm > I have written many letters regarding Figuli,my grandmothers > side in Slovakia and have received only one response. Sorry to hear this Katherina, but this is the way life goes. I'm now close to second year, 'hunting' my g-g-father Antonius CEH without success, who was living somewhere in your continent. But I'm sure not to gave up. > Thanks for your interest. You're welcome. 3. Hi Katharine, the town that approximately match your query is GRMOVLJE, located in the south side of Slovenia, near the town of MOKRONOG. But in Grmovlje, there is no surnames Banovec. In town of Ljubljana I found 12, one in Narin (west side of Slovenia), in Novo Mesto 4, and also 4 in CˇRNOMLJE! Have you, maybe, by Chernobly mean to say Cˇrnomlje?? I also made another query and located 26 surnames in surrounding of town Cˇrnomlje, so I'll be quite sure that this is the town you're looking for. Let me know, if you wish the addresses. daniela from sLOVEnia [email protected] wrote: > > Good Morning, > I have a few questions regarding my Banovetz grand father, > We think Joseph Banovetz (1854) was in Chernobly-Grmovlie?? now > who do I write to,Joseph was a Roman Catholic. Can I write in English? > and how much money do I send-American Dollers? > I hope you don't mind all these questions. > Katherine
