Author: stopnik Surnames: RMT3843 reply Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.eeurope.slovenia.general/2440.3.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: The "list" I supplied was from a Slovenian Genealogy Society website. The only reason I posted it was someone had queried the names Suklje, Sukle, Petric. There is no association with my family tree on this list. It was just general information for anyone tracing their relatives. The listing would provide the date of births (in your case, 1844) and their address (in your case Businja, Vace 30, the street address). This list is kind of like our "census" at that time. That's about all I can afford you. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. How's your imagination, do you recognize any of the letters? What is in the pictures? 1. Gorjel Jeri rad Zani prinisa 'bevi' bojs in mi - no idea, the end could be some bevy boys and us (English written down as it is spoken, maybe a Slovene word next to it) Jeri could be a person called Jerry, Zani could be Gianni - John. 2. Beri moz Luj - "beri" could be the imperative of the word read, or maybe the writer is thinking about the first name Barry? moz = husband Luj - could be a person named Luigi, Ludvik? I do not know if the Stefancic side originally came from Austria or Hungary. I do know my great great grandmother was born in Slovenia. However in that era, Slovenia was part of the Austria-Hungary empire, and when referencing her place of birth, documents say she was born in Austria. That may or may not be your situation as well. I think I have some of her siblings names if you are interested, although I know nothing about them. Best regards, Scott Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
