There are a couple of other tips that might be useful. On occasion, I've used a yellow sheet of paper to project the image on. It seems to help in the viewing at times. Perhaps it reduces the glare from a white background. Another thing I found useful is to enter the data (page no., item no., birth date, baptism date, etc. into a spread sheet form that matches the church register information (i.e. Birth, Marriage, and Death spreadsheets). In the spreadsheet you can sort on any of the fields (date, surname, god parents, etc.). As a result, even if entered out of sequence, the data can be sorted with ease. I found Cyrillic cursive combined with poor penmanship to be a real problem. I had a hard time finding my maternal grandfather because of the penmanship. http://www.pitt.edu/~armata/cyrillic.jpg http://www.colby.edu/library/collections/technical_services/wp/Cyrillic.html http://www.ia.net/~jcarroll/privet/script.html The last suggestion is a good genealogy software program.
