I have been researching Slovakian church records from the 1800's and have come across one entry listing an alias name, which is totally different from the listed name. Also, in another entry for a family's children, the mother's name is spelled one way (Srsnik) on some records and another way (Turcanek) on others, yet is apparently the same woman as the marriage record has one spelling and the birth of the first child nine months later is spelled the other. Does anybody have any information to shed light on this practice? Thanks for any help. Ruth Ann Sakala
