I'm looking into the name Jan Bela Almassy who was born 1979 in Locse, Hungary (now Slovakia), He came from Kosice in 1916. He went back and married Anna Kulik in Kosicka Nova Ves (Kosice) in 1924 and she came to Perry County, Ohio in 1924. He was a coalminer. If anyone is looking at any films of records in these areas, I'd appreciate any info you could give me. Jan was born in Locse on April 5, or Dec. 24, 1879. There are a number of Almassy (Almássy, Almáši, Almásy) families in the records of Spišský Hrušov (Körtvélyes). Spišský Hrušov is 38 km west of Prešov, 46 km northwest of Košice, 10 km east of Spišská Nová Ves, 12 km southeast of Levoča (Löcse). Surprisingly is the "nobilis" entry for the family in house #33 of Matthew Almassy (born about 1815 - died February 4, 1873) and Catherine Almassy (born about 1841 - died September 21, 1873). I have rarely seen the "nobility" designation in records. These data are on the LDS films: 1739885: 1861-1896 parts 1-2 1739903: 1713-1861 parts 6-9 Considering the distance between Levoča and Spišský Hrušov, there may be a blood relationship. The names Almáši and Almasi are still found in Spišská Nová Ves; Almáši in Košice; and Almássy and Almási in Prešov. Košická Nová Ves is indeed a "suburb" on the east northeast side of Košice, about 4 km from the center (Staré Mesto) of Košice, just on the east side of the Hornád River. I hope this helps.
