Hi Folks, I need help identifying a George W. Sloan that d. as a Confederate POW in Rock Island IL. Prison. The Rock Island Website: http://www.outfitters.com/illinois/history/civil/riarsenal.html states that he d. 1 Feb 1864, Grave #321, his unit was 41st Inf. Co. C. I think he was also in 42nd Inf. Co. K I have two possible George Sloans that might be this Rebel George. George W. Sloan, b. abt 1825 of Blount, Monroe & Poke Co. Tn. wife Abigale King. This George is known to have had a brother, John B. Sloan, that was a prisoner at Rock Island. and George Sloan, b. abt 1845 of Jackson Co. Tn. son of Gabriel B. Sloan. Both are last noted in the 1860 census. Can anyone confirm or deny that either George is the soldier buried at Rock Island??
