Just received a death certificate in the mail for my grand-uncle Sherman Sloan. Born May 30, 1896 - died Dec. 21 1969. He was widowed at the time of death and living in Elgin, IL. His sons name was listed on the death cert. as John (middle initial D ?) Sloan. The son is a new name for my list. It's hard to say if John Sloan would still be alive today. I have only been able to uncover pieces of my family through birth and death certificates. It's been a slow process. Does anyone know a good birth index for IL ? Here are my Sloans once again... great-grandfather: John Dunville Sloan b 1865? Ireland? grandfather: John Henry Ulysses Sloan b 01-12-1904 Chicago died 05-14-1958 (birth cert lists as Ulysses Henry Sloan) grand-uncle: (Dunville)Sherman Sloan b 05-30-1896 d12-21-1969 Elgin, IL father: John Henry Sloan b 01-25-30 chicago died 04-24-97 san diego, ca uncle: John D. Sloan (son of Sherman - lived in chicago area?) aunt: Nancy Sloan (daughter of John Henry Ulysses Sloan and Virginia Richards?. Don't know if she was natural child of John or from earlier marriage of Virginia) ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com
