According to Wayne and Patrick, Delilah Jane's parents were Isaac SLOAN/SLONE b. 1791 in VA and Margaret ? b. 1801 in TN. I have census information on Isaac's family from 1830, 1840, 1850, but they disappear completely in 1860, 1870, 1880 from Jackson County. I'm assuming Isaac and Margaret died somewhere in there, but it also looks like the whole family moved, maybe to another state. Four questions: 1) Does anyone know where they went? 2) Does anyone know who Isaac's parents were or where in VA he was from? 3) For reasons I won't go into here, I also suspect that Sarah P. DYCUS b. 1829, wife of John A. Dycus, Jackson County, TN, was also a daughter of Isaac Sloan/Slone--has anyone been able to confirm this? 4) Is anyone out there working on this family who wants to share info? The following are the children from census records: 1. ISSAC1 SLOAN was born 1791 in Virginia. He married MARGARET?. But my gg grandfather was Thomas Shields Sloan, b. ca. 1809.. his wife, Margaret Alexander was b. ca. 1811.. they married in the early 1830's. Their first son was William W. Sloan, b. in Mecklenburg Co NC in the 1830's.. His second son was ISAAC ALEXANDER SLOAN, b. in KY.. the family moved to KY just before 1840.. where the rest of their children were born.. If yours were related, could they have gone to Kentucky too? My question has always been.. Why did they move to KY? Who went with them? FAMILY? Why did move to Miller Co MO after almost 20 yrs.. They are buried there. This was my mother's childhood home <her grandfather was Wm W. Sloan and second wife, Mary Ann Smith, b. ARK>..... Another son was George Barton Sloan. Who were Thomas Shields Sloan's parents, grandparents? Do we have a connection? EllieSS@aol.com
