    3. Thought this would be an excellent idea for the Scot heritage in a lot of us. It may be too late to organize such an event in your community this year, but you can start planning for next year. Glenn Busbin http://members.aol.com/Busbin8088/home.html ---------------------------------------------------------------- In honor of the many United States citizens of Scotch and Scotch-Irish ancestry and in recognition of their heritage, April 6 has been proclaimed Tartan Day by the US Senate. This day commemorates the 1320 writing of the Treaty of Arbroth, which declared Scotland independent from England and declared Bruce the king. This document is believed to be the basis of the American Declaration of Independence. This year, the Spartanburg community will celebrate Tartan Day. The Spartanburg County Library will host several events throughout the day, including travelogues and genealogy workshops. At 5:30 PM, there will be a community wide communion at the Episcopal Church of the Advent, followed by a ringing of church bells in the city. Following that, there will be several activities at Montgomery Commons, downtown between the Presbyterian and Episcopal churches. All events are free of charge. The Scottish and Scotch-Irish Heritage Committee urge you to attend the events and celebrate Tartan Day to honor your forefathers. ==== McQUEEN Mailing List ==== For a list of other mailing lists hosted by RootsWeb go to http://www.rootsweb.com/~maillist/
