Bill, One S;oan which you will find on the list of Sultana passengers is William Henderson Sloan of Monroe County, Tennessee (a survivor), brother of my g-g grandfather Madison Jackson Calloway Sloan. So far as I know all the Sloans in East Tennessee were on the side of the Union.
