Keep in mind that many census records are not entirely accurate. Many census enumerators of that era had the equivalent of about a 6th grade education and could barely spell names correctly, and many had barely legible handwriting. Also, it is questionable who in the household gave the information. It's best to look at as many different years as possible and try to reconcile any differences.
