There are lots of Bald Mountains in counties which were original part of Old Rowan, but in searching for more distinctive names (such as Marlins Creek), I find it is now called Sloans Creek (p.458) with the following description: rises in w Rowan County [that would be present-day Rowan] and flows n approx. 3 miles into Kerr Creek, which see. Known first as South Fork of James Cathey's Mills Creek and later as Marlins Creek. >>
