I have today spent some time searching the local reference sources for the name Slone. I offer the following entry in one British source without further comment: "Variations: (On Sloan) Sloane, Slo(y)ne, Slowan, Sloyan." Sloan, Alfred Pritchard, Jr. (1875 -1966) Sloan, Eric, born Everard Jean Hinrichs (1905 - 85) Sloan, James Forman "Todhunter" (1873-1933) Even heard of him myself. I was called "Tod" Sloan by some in the 1940's! Sloan, John (French) (1871 - 1951) Sloan, Samuel (1815 - 84) I am quite sure that these are, however, well recorded. My few hours today have exhausted the information in the local library. My immediate interest is in my early Scottish family but I will always be keen to hear from the rest of the Clan.
