So far as I know all the Sloans in | East Tennessee were on the side of the Union. Edwin Harris Cousin Edwin & other Yankee sympathizers {just kidding of course!} Not all of the East Tennessee Sloans fought for the North. Wm. Henderson and M.J.C.'s cousins in neighboring Polk Co. Tn. fought for the South. It would be interesting to find out if they actually fought against each other in a battle. According to Wm. Erskine Sloan's Civil War diary, Polk Co. was sympathic to North, in order to avoid reprisials against their families, Erskine and his brothers spent their home leave with their Sloan cousins (my bunch) in neighboring Whitfield Co. Ga. I didn't realize that posting a few Yankee Sloan would wake up the group!! So I might as well start consolidating the info. I'll try to get a webpage started this week end to keep track of Yankees along with the Rebels. I can get Charlotte Sloan's Maryland soldiers, if any one can come up with additional State listings, it will be much appreciated. Also, if anyone out there is in to Midi Tunes, I have been unable to locate a midi tune of the Battle Hymn of the Republic (I've got Dixie!) Also looking for Yankee Doodle for my Patriot's page. Have a nice weekend, Frank Mitchell -- Visit "The Sloan Connection" at http://www.panama.phoenix.net/~fmitchel/welcome.html >> Frank and other diligent Sloan researchers! I will start extracting the YANKEES..<YEH!! > SLOANS from our local library.. Some of the YANKEE . <YEH>.. books are now published. they are in a series, so don't know the latest!!..
