Hi Folks, It's been a while since I've posted anything so I thought I'd pass along an interesting Web Page address sent to me this morning by Lyle Sloan. Check out: http://www.ishipress.com/sloan-ma.htm This contains the letter/story of Mary Sloan, Stewardess and survivor of the Titanic. I should warn you this page was put up by Sam Sloan. Sam's pages are never ending and contain hundreds of links. Everytime I run into one of his webpages I waste hours reading about his off-the-wall subjects. Actually, I'm long overdue making contact with Sam about his family ancestors. Speaking of Webpages, I've created a new page on Sloans in WW II. Take a look: http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Fields/1769/WWII.html At this point, I not really sure where I'm going with this webpage and it only contains KIA & MIAs. My SLOANS IN THE CIVIL WAR webpages continue to improve slowly. Would anyone happen to know if Simon and Morgan Slone of Pike Co. Ky. served on both the Union and Conferderate forces during the war?? Bernard Sloan lived at 379 Franklin St., Detroit, at least from 1875. Wife appears to have been Margaret and family seems to have become quite large in Detroit. Later lived at 451 Franklin. Family memebers were still in Detroit in the mid-1960s. Family probably originated in County Down, Ireland, and is somehow related to Cunningham. Would appreciate any data that anyone might have.

Eliza Caroline Earle and his son B. F. Sloan Jr. married Rebecca Gaillard Benson abt. 1856 AND Ellen M. Lewis. This was according to Carpenter-Weir Family by MaKoy, 1959. I don't have any info on Ellen and don't know if they had any issue. Ellen and B.F. Jr. were 1st cousins once removed. Frank I saw original message and tried to contact the original poster. It did appear to be Capt. David Sloan's line. My only reply was a form letter stating the poster had no further information [in spite of several references "see Earle Family" etc. As a warning, at least some of the information is bad. Benjamin Franklin Sloan's wife was not as listed in the post. Her name was Eliza C Earle. She was the daughter of General John Baylis Earle. B. F. Sloan was the son of Captain Sloan. There seemed to be several other errors in the message. I have this Sloan branch fairly well in hand if anyone needs some help. Now if we could just find out about the Captain's orgins...
