Of course, the thing that jumps out is Fergus Sloan being the executor of this will of Thomas Sloan. WHAT'S THE CONNECTION???? I've never seen a Thomas listed as a son of Fergus anyplace. Has everyone overlooked this? If Thomas is connected to Fergus then that info would appear to be in conflick with an Article "Some Descendants of Caleb Sloan" by Mamie Chambers Sawer, pub in Duplin Co. Historical Society Magazine "Footprints" issue #44, 1 Feb 1992. Sawer list John b. c1706 w/son David, plus 12 other siblings]{no ref. cited} including this Thomas of Wilkes Co. NC. In my 1790 census notes I have Thomas's son Samuel listed as Jr. in 1790. family code 1,1,1 Also listed is another Samuel Sloan, family Code 1,1,4, I believe this Samuel is the one from Iredell that m. Eliz Patterson, went to Limestone Co. AL. and d. in Smith Co. Tn. (son of Archibald) Does anyone from the Fergus, Archibald or Caleb "Clans" have anything to add? Hi Folks, I was just posting a query for Lee Bain on my Website and I thought I would query the group. Patrick Sloan d. in 1827 in Franklin Co. Va. and left a will. If you want to read it go to: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/surnames/slo/SloanWill The will mentions his children including two boys William & Jacob. Does anyone know for sure what happen to these two?? Lee found evidence in a deed in Wilkes Co. NC. that they were probably there in 1820. "A Sept 1820 deed record has William Abshire of Wilkes selling 137 acres to William Slone of Franklin Co., Va on Mulberry Creek. Witnesses, William McGrady, Larkin Brown, Jacob Slone." William Slone wasn't listed in the 1820 Census index of Wilkes Co. but Lee hand searched it and found him listed as William Slown. Lee belives this Wm. married Mary Koons and relocated from Wilks Co. to Greene/Grainger/Jefferson Co. Tn. All of Lee's evidence & research looks good to me. Is there any evidence in VA. of where Wm. or Jacob relocated to? Any ideas?? I have just received a pension application for F.M. Sloan of Nacogdoches county Texas for service in the Confederate forces of the C.S.A. I thought this might be my Marion Franklin Sloan, but it's not. This one is only listed by the initials F.M. in every entry on this application. He was botn 27 July , 1832. He was a carpenter. He enrolled with Co D, 6th La Reg and served 4 years. Me moved to Nacogdoches county in 1888, but was in Texas continuously since at least Jan 1880. I hope this is enough data to pin this particular man down. If you are researching this person, let me know and I'll provide more data from the pension record. -- Linda Sloan Crowell

Helo everyone. I have just made a new homepage with SLOAN data on it.. Genealogy information is limited at this point, but some nice pictures, some dating back to 1913. I am going to scan the pension application data of Jesse E. SLOAN onto this site and will add more as time allows. At this point, I only have ancestors, but I am working on descendants (working from the back forward) to get all the side lines accounted for, so shortly there will be more Sloan's listed. Hi Folks, This is just a note to say that probably won't be on the net answering mail for a few days. My "new" computer crashed and I've lost my modem, soundcard and about 1gb of data. Luckly, I didn't lose my genealogy, mail or note files. Thank goodness I kept my "old" computer operational, however I don't want to download mail to it, so I'll just wait. I'll be back Frank Mitchell Sloan-Slone Listowner, etc.
Had success tonight at the FHC. I found the 1920 census for my Sloans. With this came the name of the 4th child which had been missing. Therefore do any of you out there in SloanLand have any ELMER SLOAN's born in Illinois approx. 1898 ? Mothers name: Rose Fathers name: John siblings: Dunville Sherman -born 1896 went by the name Sherman Izola -born 1901 married name COSTIC Ulysses Henry -born 1904 listed as Henry on the 1920 census. Went by John as an adult.
Just a general request for any links to Scotland. My site has just had a couple of minor additions but I now hope for more evidence to continue my search. All I have is now published. www.guernsey.net/~gu3whn/index.html Best regards Mike

Greetings, I'm trying to track down the parents of my great-grandfather Elmer Andrew Stewart or Stuart, born 2/15/1861 in Mecklenburg Co., NC, died 3/10/1925. Mecklenburg Co., probably Cornelius, NC. Ring a bell with anyone? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've been searching quite a while without much luck. thanks, Tim Treadwell Raleigh, NC

Hi Folks, In case anyone is intrested: The Sloans listed are 3 of 9 children belonging to Albert Pain Sloan & Emma J. Stigall. In 1910 the family was living in Lincoln Co. KY. Albert was the son of Napoleon Bonapart Sloan of Wayne Co. Ky. Last year Tracy Schalow was researching this family and had info from N.B. Sloan's Bible. These Sloan's are descendants of David Sloan & Martha Watson of N. Ireland/Wythe Co. VA. If Debbie finds no takers, hopefully she will post all the info on the Sloan Bible GenConnect Board at: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/surnames/slo/SloanBibl Frank Mitchell Jennifer Cook wrote: > > Hi Fellow Sloans, For whoever is interested, the following was in the Wayne Co.
