    1. [SLANEY] Notice about Rootsweb Lists
    2. Jim Jackson
    3. This has been received from the Rootsweb administration: "Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails." We are presently setting up email groups at https://groups.io/. If there is interest in migrating this list to groups.io please respond to this message to that effect ASAP. Please have patience about the creation of your group. The response has been tremendous and it is taking time to get them all set up. Also, creation of this group will depend upon your response to this missive. With heavy hearts, Jim and Di

    1. [SLANEY] Help Keep This List Active
    2. Jim Jackson
    3. We just wanted to encourage you all to make use of this list in your family searches. A large number of Rootsweb lists have been made inactive due to no messages over a period of time. We want to keep as many lists active as we possibly can and your participation will help toward that goal. If you have a "brick wall" in your family search, send in a message to the list address with as much information as you have and let's see if someone may be able to help fill in those blanks. Best wishes, Jim and Di

Author: toedwar Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.slaney/27.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I now believe that this Elizabeth Slaney who married Thomas Brewster was one of two women: 1. Elizabeth Slaney, bapt. 23Jul1755 in Walsall, dau of John Slaney and wife Mary. There is a marriage of a John Slaney and Mary Taylor on 08 Jun 1754 also in Walsall who are likely her parents. 2. Elizabeth Slaney, bapt. 19 Feb 1758 in Marchington, dau of William and Mary Slaney. Both baptism dates fit with the marriage of date of 1783 as both would have been >21 yrs and of similar age to Thomas Brewster and both Walsall and Marchington are not far from Penkridge and Stretton. However I do not have any other information to determine which one is "my" Elizabeth. I would love to hear from anyone who is also researching the Slaney surname in Staffordshire. I am trying to find the family of Elizabeth Slaney (spinster) who married Thomas Brewster (widower) 23 Jun 1783 in St. Michael's church, Penkridge, Staffordshire. (above information from FreeREG.org). I don't know her parent's name, birthdate or birthplace but I would guess born about 1760 as Thomas Brewster was born in 1754 in Brewood, Staffordshire and was a miller at Stretton Mill, near Penkridge. Do you have any information on the Penkridge branch of the Slaney family that would help me? Many thanks in advance, Tom Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. If you look up David Slaney Geneology.com (descendants of David, b.1762) you'll find Donette & siblings Victor,Casamir,Benedict - but no Creusa. However, I think Donette is the FATHER of a Creusa born in 1920 (Herb's mom?). Donette's dad was Alexadre & he had a brother Arcule. Arcule had a daughter Mary Elizabeth b. 1900. In the 1930 US Census your grandmother is listed as Mary (not Creusa)born in 1900. She is also Mary on the USMC document on which she signed my old man into the service (he was under 18)in 1942. Can't find the Creusa born in 1896. Help! Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
