    1. Re: [SISSON] Shermans in Essex
    2. Thank you Mary Jo, Both my husband's SISSONS and SHERMANS go way back.? About? 10 yrs. ago I discovered a very helpful SHERMAN researcher who helped me connect the family SHERMANS back as far as?John SHERMAN,?(1396-1487), with Philip SHERMAN being the emigrant from Dedham, Essex, ENG in 1633, as you mentioned earlier.? The researcher's name is Art Cohan , but I don't know if he is still living.? As you said, most of this Sherman line has been well documented in the past.? An elderly SHERMAN cousin from Portsmouth, said that early on the SISSONS and SHERMANS owned land out on East End Rd. and on?West End Rd.? My husband's family lived in Portsmouth, Middletown, and Newport but most have moved or are deceased now.? Regards,? Joan Fitzsimmons in NJ PS? I just had a reply from the SHERMAN researcher and he is alive and well if anyone should need a SHERMAN contact. -----Original Message----- From: Mary Jo Sisson March <benoni@centurytel.net> To: inn118@aol.com Sent: Sat, 29 Dec 2007 12:04 pm Subject: Shermans in Essex Joan: I put in Essex, Dedham, England, and came up with a lot of sites. Scroll down to about the 4th one mentioned, and it is (all) about the Shermans of Essex, who migrated to America. I believe it is quoting a very famous genealogy on the Shermans. It looked so interesting, I am going to have to go back and read it too, when I have more time.? Let me know if you find the site, and if it is helpful.?
