I was doing some research on a Harford family when I came to a Marion B Sisson, b. 1838 in Westmoreland, VA to ? (possibly William) and Ann Sisson, and married to Henry Harford b. 1832. She died May 1870 Westmoreland, VA. Has anyone done any research on this family? I have looked at Ancestry and Rootsweb and have found them together on the 1850 and 1860 census. On the 1870 census he is listed under Hy Harford. Any help would be appreciated. I can only find one Marion B, Sisson from the records I have on hand. She is listed as the daughter of Ann Sisson of Westmoreland Co.. Ann seems to be a widow. However, Marion is listed as being 12 years old in 1850. If you find Marion married to Henry in 1850 and 60, this doesn't seem to be the right person. In 1850, Henry himself would only have been 18, and not a prime candidate for marriage. I checked the birth records in Westmoreland and Richmond Counties, and I found no other Marion. There are lots of Mary Sissons, and one Mary B., born to Henry and Winifred in 1805. I have no marriage record for Marion nor for Henry in Westmoreland County. This leaves you with bigger questions than you had before! Sorry. I was sure I had more on this family, and I have a family tree/history that was done for this branch in Westmoreland County, Va. by a professional genealogist. It starts with William Henry Sisson and Peggy Muse m. 1789 (d of Charles Muse), parents of William R. Sisson m. Ann Harvey in 1824 (d. of Joe F. Harvey). This record says "MARSIE B. Sisson, age 18, married Henry Harford at Montross on Feb. 19, 1859. His age was 32 and his parents were Henry and Susan Harford." The record also quotes the 1850 census with the name "Marion". There is no other information on Marsie/Marion.
