In response to those who have asked where I live, I live in Kahoka, Clark Co., Missouri. That is the very northeast corner of the state, next to the Iowa line. It is a very nice, friendly, old fashioned rural area. There is no hospital in the county, no WalMart, no shopping center, etc., but I love it. Some famous poet wrote that "a stiller town awaits us all." This is my stiller town. I had been living in the St. Louis metropolitan area, and frequently find it necessary to return there, but I am so happy to return home, to the country. I don't know if any of you check ebay for historical items, but I have purchased some great things there. Just this week I donated a complete notebook of original letters that had been written in this county in 1866-1871, by a local doctor who was also a Civil War surgeon. I found them on ebay in the state of Washington. I also purchased original enlistment lists for this county for the Civil war, and I have boughten quite a few great old post cards depicting historical buildings of this county that have been long gone.
