I only want to write this to justify what I believe to be misspellings by census takers. The Sisson board has a list of Sisson's in the 1850 census. Oops sorry but my great great grandmother is not there on the list. Whomever took the census spelled her last name Scism................she is listed as Abby Scism in Mississippi. So please take it to heart and use soundex as census takers were just ordinary people and evidently not all could spell or tried to in that day. Would you worry about spelling a last name correctly for minimum wage........did they have minimum wage in 1850? ..Janice
