I have found references to Hollingsworths in the Sisson line and am interested because my maiden name is Hollingsworth and I have hit deadends with this family research. The town of Soissons near Paris was one traditional Sisson beginning. The family story says they went to England to conquor. Does anyone else have this story? Laurie Sisson

Hi, Laurie, and welcome to the Sisson List. There isn't much information available about the Hollingsworth family, because they are still living people. A daughter of Truman A. Sisson married a Hollingsworth man. Truman A. Sisson was from western Virginia, descended from Robert Sisson by way of Caleb Sisson, who moved into the Rockbridge County, VA area after the Revolution. We don't have any information on Hollingsworths beyond the current generation, so can't help with your deadend, I'm afraid. But I'd be glad to help with any Sisson questions. There are a number of suggested sources for the Sisson name, including the reference to Soissons. But we have nothing more than speculation to back them up.
