    3. Sue, I wish I had taken down the name of the park ranger who was so excited to share the Sisson story with me when I visited the Fredericksburg battlefield. He had the other ranger haul out the book to copy down the two pages on the event (unfortunately, I didn't think to ask the year the book was published - Noel Harrison's Fredericksburg Battlefield site, H.E. Howard publisher). The story went, "On December 13, 1862, a member of the Eighth Ohio infantry and other Union soldiers broke down the front door of Sisson's store and discovered that a civilian -- perhaps Sarah Sisson - was inside. With bullets and shell fragments ......the Ohioan recalled the wounded comrades they had carried into the building [who] began to beg for water. The Federals dragged the poor woman out of her cellar and forced her out into the pelting shower of missiles to guide them to obtain water from an outside well. ..... He also recalled that the soldiers utilized Sisson's Store as a blockhouse for most of the day. The park ranger gave me detailed verbal directions to locate the current day building, but since it wasn't one from my lineage, I didn't try to locate the site. Good luck with your cemetery search.
