Hello, While vacationing last week in Virginia, I stopped at the Fredericksburg Battlefield. After giving my last name to the attendant, he excitedly gave me information regarding SISSON's STORE, constructed in 1854. In the 1860 census, it shows it was owned by David Sisson, age 45, along with Sarah Sisson, age 38 and Landon Sisson, age 11. They were born in Virginia. Sisson's Store was a prominent landmark on the path of the Union attacks on Marye's Heights during the Dec. 1862 and May 1863 Battles of Fredericksburg. If anyone is interested in a more detailed description of the event, let me know. I was given pp.172-173 from Noel Harrison's Fredericksburg Battlefield site, H.E. Howard, publisher. Laura Sisson-Thompson, WI., of the Robert Sisson line, Fairfax, Va.
All I really have is her name. Mary Sisson b sometime in 1500's presumably in England. She married 5 X's her husbands name are: Nathaniel Pope (my line), William Bridges, Lewis Nicholas, David Whitliffe/Wickliffe, and John Rosier. She only had children by Pope and Whitliffe.
