    3. For those like me who rarely think of it, you might want to look at www.ebay.com and type in Sisson. Be sure to click on the little box underneath for the search to look in descriptions. There is a wide selection of items that came up for the Sisson name. I wonder what a Sisson wine bowl is? Laura Sisson-Thompson

    3. The wine tasting cup? I'm not sure, but I did run across a case study in an MIS textbook by Laudon & Laudon (8th edition, published in 2003 by Prentice-Hall) that I use in a course I teach. Here are the highlights from the case. Peter Sisson founded WineShopper.com in 1997 with $46 million in venture capital raised from several investors (including Amazon.com). WineShopper.com was a very technically ambitious online wine retailer. According to the case, they took too long to get online and spent too much money. In August of 2000, WineShopper.com merged with Wine.com. The merged company was known as Wine.com. It also spent too much money and didn't take in enough revenue. In April 2001, Wine.com eventually went the way of the other dot-com bust companies and made massive layoffs. A more conservative competitor, EVineyard.com purchased its assets, mostly customer lists and the Wine.com Web domain name. Contact me directly if you'd like to see more details about WineShopper.com from the case, including quotes from Peter Sisson and the source articles for the case. My Mom is descended from the Sissons in Gilmer County, GA, who moved there from western NC and in SC just across the state line from Charlotte, NC. The line possibly came from Virginia before that. Our Sisson line is Pascal Spencer Sisson, George Wilburn Sisson, William Henry Sisson, and Richard B. Sisson. Before that, the line is possibly David, Thomas Jr., Thomas, William Jr., William, Robert, and Thomas Sisson who immigrated from England to Jamestown, VA.) -----Original Message----- From: Laura Thompson [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Friday, November 14, 2003 7:52 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [SISSON-L] Sisson items on ebay For those like me who rarely think of it, you might want to look at www.ebay.com and type in Sisson.
