Descendant of Adjt. Ebenezer Cary, of New York. Daughter of Sturges Cary and Hannah A. Shaw, his wife. Granddaughter of Ebenezer Cary and Delight Champlin, his wife. Ebenezer Cary (1745-1815) signed the Articles of Association, 1775. Was commissioned adjutant and muster master of the Dutchess County militia, 1776. He was elected to the Legislature, 1780, where he served two terms. He was the founder of the Dutchess County Medical Society. He was born in Providence, R. I.; died in Beekman, N. Y.
