Mary, I'm guessing that the "Richmond" refers to the County and not to the city. A James Sisson is first listed in Westmoreland County in the 1823 Personal Property Tax list. He would have been at least 16 years old to be listed. A James married in 1828, and is listed in the Richmond County Tax records until his death in 1846. I don't have a copy of a will for James. James F. could have been the son of this James, but since he died at 16, records will be sparse. This is purely a guess. There were several Sarah/Sally's in Richmond County in 1850. My best guess is that this one was the wife of a Henry Sisson. Henry and his brother Hiram sold land in 1843. Both had wives named Sally at the time. When Henry died in 1858, his will named "Sabilla" as his wife. This could all fit if the Sarah you found was his first wife, and she died in 1850.
