Dear Sisson Kin and DNA Project managers: I cannot emphasize enough the importance of the Sisson DNA Project and the tireless work of those who made it possible. Without their selfless work, it would not be reality we know today. We also have an agreement with the project directors and our family members who agreed to participate that this information would remain private; I strongly encourage you all to protect that agreement. I find it highly offensive that this forum is used to solicit private information relevant and intimate to our respective families. Many who agreed to giving DNA were sponsored by various family members and it is just dead wrong to betray their confidence. If I find that mine or any other family member betrays that confidence please be assured that there will be consequences. In this day and age, your word should be your bond(that is just the way I see it). Best Regards, Kathleen Sisson Boyd List Mom for the Southeastern Branch of William Sisson, son of Thomas and Thomas II of Nottingham, England emigrated circa 1683
Please rest assured that David and I as DNA project administrators are in complete agreement. The releases our participants signed were between them and FTDNA, so that FTDNA could release matches from their database and potential family members could contact each other. We have some members who did not sign the release. We have to respect their wishes too. If someone takes the test through Jeff's new DNA group and matches one or many of our participants, the results will be reported directly from FTDNA. We have been notified of many 12/12 matches from outside of our Sisson Group. It is not David's or my job to provide anyone else with names or numbers for any of our participants. We take that privacy issue very seriously, and I can't think of any good reason to change it.
