Three of the four Sisson families living in Richmond Co. owned slaves. The two William Sisson families living in Fairfax Co., did not have slaves The third William Sisson family, living in Orange Co., did not have slaves. The two (southern) Sisson families, John Sisson & Jesse Sisson, who came to Clark Co., Missouri in the 1830's & 1840's, were from Richmond Co., Virginia, and they too owned slaves.
