Laura: I had a postal card of one of Laurence Sisson's Maine seascapes and when I didn't find him in New England I scanned the country for a telephone number and found him in New Mexico. Then an exchange of correspondence and he sent me the lithographs. Almost too simple, but it shows what can be done if you are persistent. You have perhaps seen the note on the list yesterday that he is purportedly now in his 90's. That is not quite accurate: Laurence (notice it is spelled with a 'u', not a 'w') was born in 1928, 2d son of Arthur Foster Sisson of D. Dighton, Ma. His brother was Foster Davis Sisson and his sistert, Ruth. His lineage is: Richard, James, Jonathan, Jonathan, David, George F, George A, Arthur Foster, Laurence. A rather lengthy biographical article by a Bill Caldwell, is contained in his pamphlet, PASSAGES, explaining how he came to be an artist. Just a snippet from it will give you idea of this man and his accomplishments: "The man does too many things too well, and makes them look easy. He is an excellent jazz pianist, a crack golfer, a shark at the pinball machines, a vivid writer'. And much, much more. If you wish I can copy the article and send it to you.
