Hello All, My mother died May 25 and, while she wasn't a Sisson, I am, so I'm posting her obit in case there's a connection for someone out there. It was a heck of a way for my husband and me to spend our 25th wedding anniversary, but such is life. Thanks. Cathy Bertha (Newton) Creameans of Pullman, age 73, died Sunday, May 25, 2003 at the home of her daughter in South Haven. Bertha was born June 26, 1929 in South Haven, the daughter of Cecil A. and Della (Henry) Newton. She married Charles Creameans Jr. in South Haven on May 6, 1951. Bertha had lived in the Pullman area for over 20 years. She was an avid reader, loved animals, enjoyed flower gardening and genealogy. She could trace her ancestors in South Haven to the mid-1800s. She is survived by three children: Charles (Ruth) Creameans of Kalamazoo, Arlene (Robert) Schlack of South Haven, and Cathy (Steve) Sisson of Pullman; five grandchildren: Jesssica Creameans of South Haven, and a grandson, Charles Cooper Creameans, to be born in June 2003; Sara Schlack of South Haven; Sabrina Sisson and Amanda Sisson, both of Pullman; one great-grandson, Stephen M. Sisson, of Pullman; four sisters: Margaret Wise of FL, Esther Zelasko of IL, Dorothy Empson of South Haven, and Lois Roberts of Ishpaming; and a score of nephews, nieces and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, in 1993; her father, Cecil, in 1969; her mother, Della, in 1941; and a brother, Richard, in 1991. Visitation will be held at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home in South Haven on Thursday, May 29 from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 30, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Fr. Michael Carney of the St. Herman of Alaska Orthodox Mission in Grand Rapids officiating. Burial will follow at the Lee Township Cemetery, Lee Twp., Allegan Co.Memorials may be made to the Bertha Creameans family c/o Filbrandt Family Funeral Home, 1076 S. Bailey Ave., South Haven, MI.
