    3. Hi Mary Jo & All Sissons related to this, I am re-posting this email as I just noticed, I had just replied to Mary Jo only and I want all on the list to view this, in case anyone sees anything of even the smallest detail they recognize.. Sorry if any one gets duplicates. Please bear with my story of what little I know about my Sissons.. /Hi Mary Jo ~ I have been watching this thread closely because I am still hoping to connect my gggg grandmother, Sarah Sisson of Butternuts to a Giles Sisson in Otsego Co. Sarah Sisson, who was known to be Mrs Sarah (Sisson ) Forrester or Deforest,//(according to her tombstone in Riverside Cemetery, d March 7, 1843, @ at age// 73) who m. my 4th g Thomas Sergeant abt 1800. This is according to a book written by Ambrosia Sergeant Wait, (Thomas'& Sarah's grand daughter in 1900) Sarah Sisson was said to be a widow, when she married Thomas Sergeant(Sargent). Her father was named as Giles, and he was said to have traveled and settled in the Butternuts area of Otsego Co. He reportedly traveled with Thomas Sergeant and his wife Sarah Sisson. Thomas and Sarah's 2nd born son, James Sargent (my ggg) named his first son Giles Sargent. There has been little documented on her line. I knew Thomas and Sarah married in Schoharie Co abt 1800 by a Rev Newcomb/Newcome. I never can find any trace of them there, but just today, I was entering different names and I found a Widow Forrester living with two small children under 16. I indexed the 1790 for a Forrester and a John Forrester came up in the North Ward in NYC(near CT) John Forrester does not show up in 1800 anywhere. Is it possible the Sissons traveled through CT on their way to NY? there was no Forrester in NY but this Widow Forrester in Schoharie which I do believe is my Sarah Sisson Forrester. Her two children were Sally who married Dr William Jacox of Butternuts, and John Deforest b. 1790 living with his sister Betsy Sargent in the NYS census of 1860 and 1870 and says he was widowed twice. So which Sisson did my Sarah belong to? Many of the Sargent men have the middle names of ARNOLD. Anyway, here is the census below of 1800 of Sisson in Otsego Co., NY,. I did a soundex search but I have noticed that sometimes the search engine does not always catch everyone so people need to watch that. I hope this is legal to post to the group, after all it is a vital record, and I am naming the source. 1800 United States Federal Census Thursday, February 28, 2008 1:06:12 AM Name Residence (City,County,State) Saml Sisson Milford, Otsego, NY 1800 William Susan Pittsfield, Otsego, NY 1800 Arnold Sipon [Arnold Sisson] Unadilla, Otsego, NY 1800 Giles Sisson Unadilla, Otsego, NY 1800 John Sisson Unadilla, Otsego, NY 1800 John Sisson Unadilla, Otsego, NY 1800 Wilson Sisson Unadilla, Otsego, NY 1800 Source Information: Ancestry.com. 1800 United States Federal Census [database on-line]. I gave up on belonging to Ancestry.Com, because the membership fee became very expensive. I imagine anyone who has a membership with them could look up Sissons for that year. Perhaps it would help straighten out our Giles research. > Mary Jo > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to SISSON-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message > >
