Carrie Sisson Marx of Johnson City, NY Carrie Sisson Marx died May 2, 2008. She was born in West Berne, New York on August 22, 1912, the daughter of Lloyd M. and Nellie (Haverly) Sisson. She married Norville C. Marx on June 26, 1936 and they had one daughter, Nelda Marx Lynn, both predeceased her. Brothers, George W. Sisson, Robert Sisson and Dr. Reade Sisson; as well as one niece, Laura Sargent, also predeceased her. She is survived by two granddaughters, Holly Marx Lynn, Orlando, Florida, and Robin Anne Lynn, White Plains, New York; as well as nephews, Francis Sargent and Gary Sisson; and nieces, Carolyn Vinson, Patricia Huisjen and Mary Eibs. Carrie graduated from Oneonta State Teachers College and was a primary school teacher for many years. She was a member and served on the Board of Trustees of First Presbyterian Church in Endicott, New York. Carrie was active in the Girl Scouts of America and she helped organize and was the first director of the Girls Club of Greater Endicott where she served in that capacity for six years. She served on the Board of Directors of Good Shepherd-Fairview Home and the Endicott Presbyterian Nursery School. She volunteered at Wilson Memorial Hospital. An avid and knowledgeable gardener, her home was complimented by energetically tended landscaping. Carrie enjoyed entertaining and playing bridge. She was devoted to her daughter, Nelda and to her granddaughters, Holly and Robin. Memorial Services will be held Tuesday, May 13, at 2 p.m. from First Presbyterian Church, Endicott. The family will receive friends at the church from 1 p.m. until service time in the chapel. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church in Endicott or American Heart Association.
