    2. David Sisson
    3. Hello Everyone, I've been searching for potential participants again - participants in the Sisson Y-Chromosome DNA Project. When I searched through Google on "[email protected]" (try it!), one of the hits was http://home.earthlink.net/~vgabndo/ which took me to a page about Sisson, Siskiyou County, California, also known as Mt Shasta, California. Carol, you might consider linking that page to Justin Hinckley Sisson's record in the Richard and Mary database. There is a fair amount of material relating to Justin Sisson at that site. 1. [SISSON-L] 25-Marker DNA Test Results
    2. shamiller3
    3. About a month ago, David and I asked 3 men who had taken the 12-marker DNA test to upgrade to the more detailed 25-marker test. Each was chosen because he had a well-documented line to one of the three major ancestors. All three came through for us, and their results came back today. Folks, it's pretty clear now that the lines of Robert, Richard and Thomas/William are entirely separate. The numbers indicate virtually no potential relationship among them. A score of -3 or -4 is too broad to be considered connected by an ancestor. From the 12 marker test, there seemed to be some possibility that the Richard and Thomas/William lines might be connected. At 12 markers, there was only one marker different by two steps, giving a score of -2. Adding the last 13 markers, the score is now -8. The difference between Richard and Robert has jumped from -4 to -7, and the difference between Robert and Thomas/William changed from -4 to -9. A fourth man from the Robert line was also tested. The two from Robert's line were a 25/25 match. These results did allow us to make a determination about a man with a name different from Sisson who had a 12/12 match to one of our lines. When the test was expanded, the actual score ended up being -8. His 12-number match was simply coincidence, or in DNA parlance "random convergence". Now we have answers to one of our biggest questions. If you have questions, I'll try to answer them. Sharon Sisson Miller

Sisson, wife of William Henry Sisson of Portsmouth, RI who was born 8 Jan.1832 and who was the son of Jabez and Eliza Ward Sisson. I have proofs for a lot of the rest of the line, but the book is missing from the Town Clerk's Office in Tiverton, RI for the year that Abigail Bennett was supposed to be born (1823), and nothing is in Arnold's RI Vital Statistics. Can anyone help?

    3. Hello All, Thank you all for your kind thoughts and prayers. They're very much appreciated. My mother was as interested in genealogy as I am, not just her own, but the entire family's. At least she's at rest now and free of pain. God willing, she's at last able to meet with those ancestors she so willingly embraced. Thank you all. Cathy

Is this the David Sisson/Mary Ragsdale line, and if so, is there someplace to find this info? Thanks to all of you for a very active forum. I keep looking for info to connect up with some of your lines. Donna

    2. Regehr, Carol
    3. Hi all, I've updated the Richard&Mary and Robert&Amy databases. Richard/Mary of Rhode Island at: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~dasisson/richard/ and Robert/Amy of Virginia at: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~dasisson/robert/ If you had a bookmark to your people, most likely the URL will have changed. The reference numbers change when I insert new people. Please note that the Robert/Amy database now includes the group formerly known as "Fairfax". This group has been successfully linked to Robert and Amy. In addition, for both databases I've turned on a feature called "scrapbook". This allows more than one picture to be associated with a person. If you see the clickable word "scrapbook" next to someone's entry, click on it and you'll see a larger version of the main picture, plus any other pictures that may be associated. For example, look at Henry Tillinghast Sisson (the oldest one) currently at: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~dasisson/richard/aqwg89.htm#3897 Click on "scrapbook" to see jpgs of documents relating to his patent for the loose-leaf ring binder. Thanks to Neil Madden for this interesting information! Carol Sisson Regehr Sisson-L list mom -- [email protected]

    3. In response to those who have asked where I live, I live in Kahoka, Clark Co., Missouri. That is the very northeast corner of the state, next to the Iowa line. It is a very nice, friendly, old fashioned rural area. There is no hospital in the county, no WalMart, no shopping center, etc., but I love it. Some famous poet wrote that "a stiller town awaits us all." This is my stiller town. I had been living in the St. Louis metropolitan area, and frequently find it necessary to return there, but I am so happy to return home, to the country. I don't know if any of you check ebay for historical items, but I have purchased some great things there. Just this week I donated a complete notebook of original letters that had been written in this county in 1866-1871, by a local doctor who was also a Civil War surgeon. I found them on ebay in the state of Washington. I also purchased original enlistment lists for this county for the Civil war, and I have boughten quite a few great old post cards depicting historical buildings of this county that have been long gone. So I would highly recommend checking them out. Mary Jo Sisson March

    2. Mary Jo March
    3. I have been busy reorganizing the local library's genealogy department, and boy did it ever need it. I devote nearly all of my research time to local history now. We have a county web site to which I submit my findings. It is quite exciting, sometimes I find some great old records no one knew existed. I discovered, by accident, that the county actually owned several of the old rural cemeteries including the one where my pioneer ancestors are buried. It had been deeded to the county in 1872, and when I held the old (original) deed in my hand it was very exciting. The man who had deeded it was a civil war soldier, and had survived the Andersonville prison. You never know what you are going to find in these old courthouses, if you take the time to look.
