    2. David A Sisson
    3. Hello Cathy and Everyone, I'm glad you found the Rhode Island Historical Cemeteries Transcription Project. One of our own, Barb Austin is one of the key persons who works on the RI Historical Cemeteries Transcription Project. Barb is a descendant of Richard and Mary Sisson and a lot of other early settlers in Rhode Island, and she is a wonderful person, now a personal friend of mine. She gets out there in the weather, with her camera and pen/cil and paper, and makes sure that every gravestone on Aquidneck Island (where Portsmouth, Middletown, and Newport are) is photographed and its wording transcribed. She's been working on this project for many years. She lives in California, and spends April to October in Rhode Island. You can see some of Barb's photography on the page AN ILLUSTRATED HISTORY OF THE OLD SISSON HOUSE IN PORTSMOUTH, RHODE ISLAND on the Sisson Genealogy Site:- http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~dasisson/mintwater.htm It deals with Richard and Mary Sisson's home "Mintwater Brook Farm." It's not much like a farm today, but in the late 17th century when Richard and Mary lived there, and later their son George, it was a place to raise food and the ancestors of many of our ancestors. If you want to skip directly to Barb's pictures, scroll about halfway down the page to see a reference to Barb's 1999 visit to the house. All the pictures below that point are Barb's photographs. Here's to Barb! She's the best! David Arne Sisson Cathy Sisson wrote: > I also found the Rhode Island Historical Cemeteries Transcription Project and a quick search brought up a lot of Sissons. 1. [SISSON] Hal Sisson-Book-Canadian Author Interesting and wierd! Has anyone ever heard of this man? Any relation?
    2. BOOKS — Recommended Reading Monday, April 16, 2007 By W. Leon Smith, EDITOR-IN-CHIEF CRAWFORD — A novel about 9/11? Yes. And an earth-shattering one at that. Canadian author Hal Sisson, who researched hundreds of books, DVDs, and articles to find out what really may have happened on 9/11, has created a masterpiece with Modus Operandi 9/11. The novel, which reads like a thriller, brings together facts regarding the 9/11 attacks and uses them to unravel a dastardly plot cooked up by a group Sisson calls the "Global Union," with the cabal deliberately creating a false flag terrorist disaster designed to strong-arm and surprise the American people into a war "that would not end in their lifetimes" in order to bring about a totalitarian world government. The novel, which casts a nonflinching eye on the machinations of the New World Order and its neo-con pirates, is extremely well written, with colorful characters, and a storyline that compells the reader to not put down the book. New insight is given to the events surrounding the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks, including suggestions — cause and effect — of what probably really occurred. Sisson, who served in the Royal Canadian Air Force for four years during World War II as an armourer, practiced law from 1951 to 1984, after which he authored nine books — from murder mysteries, to collections of humorous reminiscenses on the vagaries of life in rural Western Canada during simpler times, to text exposing the dignity and humane treatment of animals and great apes fighting off extinction. His books have exposed the ways in which the populace is being controlled by those in power and the lengths to which they will go in order to feed their insatiable greed. His books have touched on sinister forces of blackmail and unscrupulous legal drug dealers and Catholic church cults, and contraceptive industrial espionage within the Vatican, set against a backdrop of the world population explosion. Sisson is a master at using comedic devices to address serious concerns, which is tastefully present in Modus Operandi 9/11. Every American should read Modus Operandi 9/11. Published by Global Outlook, the book is available for order by calling 1-999-713-8883, or 1-705-728-6500. Price of the paperback edition (310 pages) is $10. http://www.lonestaricon.com/absolutenm/anmviewer.asp?a=1348&z=128

    3. A book titled "English Adventures and Emigrants, 1609-1660" page 123 states this: Giles Sisson, of Wapping, Middlesex, caulker aged 40. He worked on the ship after the return from Newcastle". After going back a few pages, it appears that this was around Oct., 1650. With this Giles being 40, he would have been born around 1610. Going back a few pages it says "Vol. 63, reguarding the Peter and John". This is a reference to two ships. This is a book about Admiralty. Also in a book titled "Immigrants to New England 1700-1775", it mentiones a Sisson County, Donegal, Ireland. Hopefully some of you will find this interesting. Larry L. Sisson

    1. Re: [SISSON] Lorenzo D.
    2. Regehr, Carol
    3. Hi Kim! I looked in the US census and found Lorenzo Sisson (age 47) with his son Leland in 1910 living in Norton, Summit Co., OH. Lorenzo stated that he had been born in Canada, and his parents in England. He was working as a distiller for a chemical company. Going back to the 1880 census, Lorenzo gave his age as 16 and was working as a farm laborer in the household of James Tobias in Lansing, Michigan. He gave his birthplace as Canada. Going back to the 1870 census, 8-year-old Lorenzo Sisson, born in Canada, was living with a William Sisson, age 48, born in England, the two of them as farm laborers in the household of Orlan Giles in Bloomingdale, Michigan. Family relationships were not given, but William would be a good possibility for Lorenzo's father. If you go back to the Canadian censuses to find William before he came to the US, there are more than one possibility in approximately the right time frame, that is, William who said he was born in England, in the area of Manvers, Ontario, Canada. The Sisson family living in Manvers has been documented coming from the area of Westmoreland, England, by Jill Fyffe at: http://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=saby&id=I749 but I don't see quite the William that you are looking for here. Some of the siblings aren't completely documented yet. But I think this would be the place to investigate further for your group. Best, Carol [Sisson Regehr] Sisson-L list mom I am a descendent of Lorenzo D. Sisson. Lorenzo married Susan Mae Horn and had four children. The youngest of those children was Leland Lorenzo, who married Jennie Randa. They had four children, one of whom was my grandfather, William Lee Sisson. His son, David Lee, is my father. The only thing I know about Lorenzo D. is that he was from Ontario Canada. I have looked at your website, which is fantastic by the way, and I was wondering if anyone had any information or suggestions on where I could look for clues. Kim Sisson

    3. Dear Friends and Cousins, I am a faithful reader of Eastman's Online Genealogy Newsletter (which has free subscriptions - see URL below). This week's issue carries an announcement about a new website, Genealogy Librarian News. In the upper left-hand corner of the home page of the News, you will find a section called "New Resource Online: GenealogyBank." I clicked on the link* ** http://www.genealogybank.com/gbnk/keyword.html?s_trackval=blog& <http://www.genealogybank.com/enter/blog> *and entered Sisson in the blank, and found literally thousands of references to the name available. Information about the newsletter is available at / http://www.eogn.com <http://www.eogn.com/>/./ Genealogy Librarian News Tom Kemp of GenealogyBank has launched a blog: Genealogy Librarian News. Tom reports that back in the late 90's he began an e-mail newsletter of the same name Genealogy Librarian News. He has decided that the time is now ripe to bring the newsletter back in a modern format: as a blog available both in a web browser and as an RSS data feed. I took a look at the new blog and found articles about a new genealogy room being opened at a public library in Oklahoma, the Table of Contents from the latest Illinois State Genealogical Society Quarterly, the latest Table of Contents from The Maine Genealogist, and more.
