Unfortunately, she died young and the 1890 census is not available so we can't see what she would have put on a census herself - as far as parents place of birth, or even her own place of birth to confirm the Woodville, KY on her tombstone. I have been looking for certain "Sinks" in Missouri and if I come across anything on Julia I will post it here. When searching for "Sinks" keep in mind it is one of those names that occasionally is transcribed incorrectly (Finks, Links, Sinko, Sinke) or may have been written down wrong by the census taker - spelling it like it may have been pronounced (Cinks, Cinques, Zinks .) Be creative when you search. Nothing would surprise me. Since so little is apparently available on line about Julia, I guess I'd try to find out all I can on her children - and maybe see if something on the Collins family turns up. Maybe their vital records might hold a tiny tidbit of information that might lead you to more on Julia. I assume you descend through Julia's son Benjamin Henry Decocq and you probably have a lot of information on him. I noticed the CA death record on Ancestry noted his mother's maiden name as Collins. I see that Julia's daughter Jennie married Roy Brendlinger (Oatis LeRoy Brendlinger) on 12 Jun 1912. That record seems to have been scanned into Ancestry and it doesn't list any info on the parents. They had at least two sons (one of whom, Ralph, sadly died as a POW in WW2) then divorced and she married Earnest Planchon. She died in 1966 and is buried with Earnest at the Waldensian Cemetary in Barry Co. I would think her death certificate might be available and maybe would list more on her mother. M! aybe there is something on the Planchon marriage - if there is a vital record available for that. I don't think the census records for Ben henry or jennie ever indicate that Kentucky was their mother's birthplace but they just might not have known really. I think it either gives Missouri or United States for mother's birthplace. I think the missing information for your Julia - like for the Powell Sinks I am looking for - isn't on line (yet anyway) and the answer probably lies in some dusty old book somewhere. I would check with the Barry and Jasper County Clerks to see if they have any ideas. And I think there may be genealogical societies in those counties that may have access to books and records we can't get online. Probably is nothing - but I did notice that there was a Jennie Collins in Barry County about the same time. Since Julia named a daughter Jennie it stood out (even though there were probably lots of Jennies at that time and lots of Collins.) I first noticed a marriage record for a Jennie Collins in Barry CO. Then noticed a Jennie Collins living with her parents Henry and Nancy (Hubbard) Collins in Fields Creek, Henry, MO in 1880 and what is kind of interesting is that a Sinks family seems to be living just a few doors down from them (George and Mildred Sinks) but neither family lists a Julia. There is another Jennie Collins in the 1880 census in Flat Creek, Barry, MO as a servant in the household of JL Williams, showing her born in 1867, born in IL, parents born in IL and Ohio (at only 13!) and I think yet another Jennie was in Johnson, MO. I don't see any other connection at the surface but maybe there still might be a connection between the Collins and Sinks family in th! at 1880 census. Also noted: there was a Julia Sinko (I think that is a transcription error and should be Sinks) in Blue Cane Arkansas in 1880 - born 1871 (parents were Charles and Sarah Sinks). Charles and Sarah Sinks (and Julia - under age 10) were in Missouri for the 1876 State census. I think it is under "Sinke" though if you want to search for it. Also, there was Sinks (Henry & Catherine) family in Kentucky in 1870 but Julia wasn't born quite yet so it's hard to say if there could be a connection. I wasn't able to find much else about that family later in other census records so makes me wonder if something happened to them (but I didn't search that hard so maybe there is more out there.) Your Decocq family is very interesting and fairly well "findable" in on-line records. I even found Benjamin Decocq's 1898 obituary. I would imagine you already have a lot on that side of the family. If only there was an obituary for Julia Decocq. Good luck to you! I hope you find out about your Julia.
