    3. Maureen, I'm sorry I can't help with that , but your posting has gotten my attention due to the fact that your Sinks ancestors were in Mississippi. I have some Sinks ancestors in Louisiana , and am having a terrible time tracking them. I'm wondering if there could possibly be some connection , as it seems there weren't many Sinks wwho migrated to this area of the country. My first known Sinks ancestor was a JACOB SINKS who was married to a woman named CATHERINE ( I feel strongly that her surname was Fewell). They migrated to Louisiana , I think by way of Pendleton County , KY , and were in Feliciana Parish , LA by 1812 , when Jacob was on the roster of War of 1812 soldiers. Jacob appears on the 1820 East Feliciana Parish census with a wife and a number of children, all female except for one male child. Their daughter , NANCY SINKS , born 25 March 1808 in Kentucky , married THOMAS BENNETT in Amite County , MS on 11 March 1824. NANCY SINKS is my direct line ancestor. Another daughter , SARAH SINKS , married HARDY BRIAN ( BRYAN , BRYANT) , on 17 Jan. 1818 in Feliciana Parish , LA. Another daughter , MARY ANN SINKS , married JOHN LEBO on 18 March 1831 in Natchitoches Parish , LA. I am unable to find JACOB SINKS on any other census records in LA until 1850 , when he appears as a 72 year old laborer , born in Virginia. At that point , he has no family listed with him. I would greatly appreciate any information you could give me on your Sinks family -- even if there appears to be no tie-in. I am really desperate here , and feel like any bit of information might be a clue. I am posting this query to the entire SINKS list rather than just to Maureen personally , in case anyone out there might be able to help me. Thanks so much.
