Would Mary Ann (Polly) be trying to keep up a farm with the help of her female daughters Ellen age 12 and Elizabeth age 17? I can't figure out David working nearby at the Hill farm and living there. Perhaps she did go a bit crazy because her husband was killed in the Civil War and she was 54 at the time of the census and struggling to keep up the family farm. P.S.
