SINKS (born 1812 in TN, died 1864 Grand Chain, Pulaski Co, IL). He married on 11 Dec 1838 Nancy Ann LYELL (born 1818 VA, died 1908 Pulaski Co, IL). In a book, Tennesseans in the War of 1812, by Byan Sistler, 1992, I found the following listings: 1. LYLES, James Pvt in Col J. Cocke, Capt J. Price, Inf 2. LYLES (Liles) Daniel Pvt in Col J. Cocke, Capt J. Price, Inf. 3. SINKS, Jesse Pvt in Col John Cocke, Capt Joseph Price, Inf. As I was interested in Lyles and Sinks, this seemed interesting, so I sent for their files from the National Archives. If you have the Bounty Land application by the widow of Jesse Sinks, you probably already know this. His widow was Anna Sinks, maiden name Whittington. In 1852, she was of Montgomery County, TN and aged 54. One of the papers indicates that a Drewery Sinks was present at the marriage of Jesse Sinks and Anna Whittington on July 5, 1820 in Montgomery County, TN. Another tidbit is from: Garrett, Jill Knight, Dickson County Handbook, Easley, SC: So Historical Press, 1984. (A Handbook for research in Dickson County): pp 88-9 Powell SINKS: Account of sale of estate of Powell Sinks, deceased. Filed April 1826. Buyers included Powell SINKS, admr., Elizabeth SINKS, Zachariah SINKS, Henry SINKS, Eleanor PARRISH, Joseph AUSTIN, Howard W. TURNER, John ADAMS. p 46 Hartwell SINKS to Elizabeth RUSSELL, marriage license issued 18 August 1847. Note: This marriage appears to have been solemnized as they appear on the 1850 census of Dickson Co. If you don't have the Bounty Land Records, I could post them here.
