According to the 1880 Wayne Co., IL census, Cora was born around 1877 in IL. Her parents were also both born in IL according to the census. She is listed in the household of my gg-grandparents, James and Rebecca Suddarth, as adopted. Other Sinks in Wayne Co. are Sena Sinks, age 25, and Amelia Sinks, age 22. There are also Sinks in nearby Hamilton Co. Cora married Jesse Jackson McNew in Asheville, Stoddard Co., MO on 25-June-1895. According to the marriage record, the bride's parents, Charlie Sinks and wife, gave their consent. Two years later, in 1895, there was a motion for divorce which was dismissed. It was about this time that my gg-grandparents moved to Stoddard Co. I am trying to find out who Charley Sinks and his wife are (Cora's parents), why she would have been living with James and Rebecca and why she would have gone to Southeast MO.
